Bangalore: Popular Reggae singer Shaggy, Grammy award winner Chaka Khan, British pop diva Jamelia and Shaolin monks from China will set the stage on fire at the much anticipated opening ceremony of the Champions League Twenty20 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.
The opening ceremony would start with captains of the participating teams from 7 countries exchanging flags and taking an oath of the “MCC Spirit of Cricket” before leaving their handprints in clay as a testimony to play the tournament in the true spirit of the game.
After that would start the high-intensity, high voltage entertainment with twelve world-renowned Japanese drummers taking centrestage, followed by international dancers in Michelle Ferranti costumes.
Grammy Award winning American R&B singer-songwriter Yvette Marie Stevens, better known as Chaka Khan, would then continue the proceedings and entertain the crowd with her hit single “I Feel For You”. Chaka Khan’s performance will be followed by the acrobatic cube artists before the Shaolin monks from China dazzle the audiences by a display of Tai Chi, Kung Fu and Chi Kung movements in an adrenalin-packed sequence, surrounded by the agile Kalaripayattu artists.
Shaggy will take the stage next and sing “Feel the Rush”, which was the official anthem for the mascots of the Euro 2008 football tournament. Shaggy’s performance will be accompanied by a multicoloured laser show and eight wind dancers. British singer-model Jamelia would then take over with her international super hit song “Superstar”.
In the grand finale, all the artists will converge onto the field to a synchronised segment of lights, laser, concert sound and a display of fireworks that will come together to make for a spectacular climax.
