After Tendulkar talks fail, Middlesex now eye Yuvraj thumbnail

Mumbai: England’s county side, Middlesex, have confirmed reports that they are in talks to sign Yuvraj Singh as their second overseas player for this year’s Twenty20 Cup.

Middlesex, who were originally keen to sign Sachin Tendulkar, who turned down their offer to prolong his international career, feel that Yuvraj would be a welcome addition to the county side after former Australian wicket-keeper Adam Gilchrist confirmed to his participation in November.

However, a major stumbling block to negotiations with Yuvraj could be India’s unconfirmed international schedule. The tournament is scheduled to start on June 1, with the finals in August, and India has been considering a tri-series involving Sri Lanka during the same time.
