Hamilton: New Zealand cruised to a 10-wicket win over Bangladesh in the one-off Twenty20 match in Hamilton on Wednesday.

After winning the toss and opting to bat first, the tourists were cleaned up for a paltry 78 in 17.3 overs and the Black Caps didn’t have to break a sweat chasing it as they took just 8.2 overs to complete a comprehensive victory. The opening pair of Brendan McCullum (56 not out) and Peter Ingram (20 not out) quickly finished off the job at hand.

McCullum’s 56, including seven fours and two sixes, came off just 27 balls, while Peter Ingram, making his international debut, took 23 balls for his 20 not out which included 3 boundaries.

Earlier, Bangladesh were rattled out for 78 with New Zealand skipper Daniel Vettori being the chief destroyer, ending with astonishing bowling figures of 4-1-6-3.

Nathan McCullum, Jacob Oram and Daryl Tuffey took two wickets each.

The tourists have little time to recover from the drubbing, with the three-match one-day international series starting in Napier on Friday.

Match Summary:

New Zealand 79 for 0 (McCullum 56*) beat Bangladesh 78 (Vettori 3-6, Nathan McCullum 2-15) by 10 wickets
