Dubai: Swashbuckling Indian opener Virender Sehwag has replaced his Delhi and India teammate Gautam Gambhir at the top of the ICC Test rankings after cracking two centuries in the recently concluded test series against South Africa.

Sehwag now has 863 rating points and has displaced his opening partner Gautam Gambhir from the number one rank. Sehwag smashed a brilliant 165 in the first innings of the Kolkata Test after his 109-run knock in the first innings of the first match in Nagpur. Gambhir’s poor run in the series means he has fallen to the fifth spot.

South Africa’s Hashim Amla, who played magnificently throughout the series with three centuries, including a double hundred and was named of the Man of the Series, has jumped to second spot with 842 points.

Zaheer Khan is the top-ranked Indian among bowlers at sixth while off-spinner Harbhajan Singh, who was instrumental in India winning the Kolkata Test with a five-wicket haul in South Africa’s second innings, is one spot below at seventh, in the list headed by Dale Steyn.
