Mumbai: Continuing the tradition of groundbreaking opening ceremonies that we saw over the first two editions, this year the Indian Premier League’s opening ceremony and dinner would once again feature a host of international pop stars and Bollywood bigwigs.

IPL chairman Lalit Modi wrote on his Twitter page that iconic international pop stars like Abba, Lionel Ritchie and UB40 would perform at the event.

“Opening ceremony has Deepika Padukone, UB40, Lionel Ritchie, and Abba Revival among many other spectacular Performances on the 12th march,” Modi wrote on Twitter.

The IPL chairman added that the opening dinner would also feature a performance from Akon. “Akon performing at the opening dinner only at tote on the 11th night with UB40, Lionel Ritchie and Abba revival,” Modi added.

Previous IPL opening and closing ceremonies have included the likes of Shaggy, Akon, Bollywood star Katrina Kaif and many others.
