Mumbai: In a show of unity against the Indian Premier League Commissioner, Lalit Modi, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to boycott the IPL awards ceremony to be held on Friday.

A close source to the BCCI told English news channel CNN-IBN, that all the BCCI officials will be boycotting the IPL awards and the board has communicated the decision to all the franchisees, who in turn are now wary of sending their players to the award ceremony.

The inaugural IPL Awards were announced on April 19. Bollywood superstar and co-owner of the Kolkata Knight Riders, Shah Rukh Khan will host the award night along with well-known director and friend Karan Johar at the Grand Hyatt in Mumbai.

The awards could also face a legal issue, with reports coming in that Propaganda Media and Marketing, an event management company, has approached the Delhi High Court on Thursday with a petition demanding they be given credit and compensation for conceptualising the event.

They have alleged in the petition that while they conceptualised the event, the IPL management was giving credit to another company called Cineyug Worlwide.
