Kolkata: Kolkata Knight Riders skipper, Sourav Ganguly, has been fined $40,000 for his team’s slow over-rate during their Indian Premier League match against the Delhi Daredevils on Wednesday while all the other players in the team have been fined $10,000 each.

At the end of the game, KKR was assessed to be two overs behind the required rate after allowances were taken into consideration, an IPL release said. The fine amount was high since it was KKR’s second offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over rate offences and one more such offence would amount to a one-match ban on Ganguly.

Ganguly was earlier fined $20,000 for his team’s slow over rate against Deccan Chargers in the opening IPL outing on March 13.
