Ganguly injured, doubtful for Bangalore game thumbnail

Kolkata: Kolkata Knight Riders suffered a huge blow with their skipper, Sourav Ganguly, suffering an ankle injury after their game against the Delhi Daredevils on Wednesday.

The Knight Riders may have to take the field in an important fixture against the Royal Challengers Bangalore without their inspirational skipper. According to reports, Ganguly’s ankle got ‘locked’ after the post-match presentation ceremony at the Eden Gardens.

Kolkata physio Andrew Leipus said Ganguly’s fitness will be assessed after his arrival in Bangalore on Friday, but the captain had begun to walk and that “is a good sign”. West Indian skipper, Chris Gayle, is most likely to be given the responsibility of captaining the side in the absence of Ganguly.

Ganguly has been instrumental in Kolkata’s turnaround in the tournament with the former Indian skipper leading from the front in the both the recent matches that KKR has won against the Deccan Chargers and the Delhi Daredevils.
