Hobart: Australia thrashed Pakistan by 231 runs to complete a clean sweep in the three match series and equal the world record of most test wins by any team against the same opponent.

The emphatic win gave Australia their fourth successive 3-0 win over Pakistan in a test series and equalled the record for most successive test wins against the same opponent — 12, which was held by Sri Lanka against Bangladesh.

Pakistan, chasing a record target of 438, were bowled out for 206 just an hour after lunch, losing the match by 231 runs. Only recalled number three batsman Khurram Manzoor offered any resistance on the final day with a gutsy half-century to make amends for his first-innings duck.

After taking five-wicket hauls in the first two tests in Melbourne and Sydney, Nathan Hauritz shone for the third successive Test. Hauritz scalped three more wickets on the final day in Hobart to finish with an impressive 29 wickets in six Tests for the summer.

Match Summary:

Australia 8 for 519 dec and 5 for 219 dec beat Pakistan 301 and 206 (Manzoor 77, Siddle 3-25, Hauritz 3-30) by 231 runs

Man of the Match: Ricky Ponting
