Adelaide: West Indian all-rounder Dwayne Bravo scored his third test hundred guiding his team to a fighting total of 336-6 at the end of Day 1 of the second test against Australia at Adelaide.
West Indies were once again in trouble, with the score reading 3-119 and Brendan Nash back in the pavilion retired hurt. But Bravo and Shivnarine Chanderpaul (66) added 151 runs for the fifth wicket to rescue the West Indies innings.
Bravo was eventually dismissed for 104, an innings which included 12 fours and one six. The innings was then consolidated by Darren Sammy and Brendan Nash with a 63 runs stand, both of them unbeaten on 44.
After winning the toss and electing to bat, West Indies was in early trouble as Doug Bollinger rocked their top order, claiming the wickets of opening batsmen Adrian Barath (3) and Chris Gayle (26). Ramnaresh Sarwan seemed like building a solid partnership with Chanderpaul, but a loose drive off Mitchell Johnson went straight to Michael Clarke and his innings came to a premature end for 28.
For Australia, speedsters Doug Bollinger (2-42) and Shane Watson (2-42) were the pick of the bowlers, while Mitchell Johnson and Nathan Hauritz each claimed a wicket.
West Indies are trailing the series 1-0 after a humiliating innings defeat in the first Test.
