Kanpur: Wicket Keeper Dinesh Karthik has been called to the national squad for the second test against Sri Lanka starting on Tuesday as a cover for the injured skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

Dhoni had injured his finger during the first test match at Ahmedabad which ended in a draw. However, Karthik has been called in just for precautionary measures, as Dhoni’s injury isn’t too serious, evident in the Indian captain’s batting and bowling in the nets on Sunday.

Dhoni will, in all likelihood, be declared fit for the match starting Tuesday in Kanpur.
