Johannesburg: The first one day international between South Africa and England was abandoned without a ball being bowled.

Incessant rains meant that no play was possible on the day as the heavy downpour, which started on Thursday, was still going strong when the match was abandoned at 5 p.m. local time on Friday.

The second match is scheduled for Sunday at Centurion’s Supersport Park.
