Former ICC Chief David Morgan has come out in support of the new ICC President Sharad Pawar, who is facing severe criticism from all quarters for influencing the ICC members to not support former Australian PM John Howard’s nomination for ICC Vice President, saying that Pawar had no objection to Howard’s candidature and that Pawar, along with Morgan himself, supported the nomination of Howard but the former Australian Premier started losing support in the last week which led to his rejection.

Former ICC CEO, Malcolm Speed, has lashed out at the new ICC President Sharad Pawar, saying that if John Howard was rejected for lack of experience, then even Sharad Pawar does not qualify to be the ICC President, as he knows “little about cricket administration” while adding that the entire fiasco has a lot more to it than meets the eye.

The rift within the International Cricket Council (ICC) seems to be deepening, with the Prime Ministers of Australia and New Zealand backing John Howard and asking him to not withdraw his candidacy for the Vice-President’s post even as the new ICC President, Sharad Pawar, insisted that there is no division within the ICC and that the former Australian PM just didn’t have the numbers to be selected for the post.

Modi dropped a bombshell on Friday by saying that former BCCI president and Union Agriculture Minister, Sharad Pawar, and his Parliamentarian daughter, Supriya Sule, were also part of a failed bid for the Pune franchise but both Pawar and Sule have categorically denied any involvement in any IPL team.
